FRIDAY — 318 new Coronavirus cases and 13 new deaths are reported

By ROSS REILY

Mississippi’s total of presumptive cases of COVID-19 now stands at 10,811 after the Mississippi Health Department reported 313 newly identified cases on Friday.

It is the 38th day in the last 40 (31st consecutive) that the single-day total has been more than 100 with 19 days of more than 200 and eight days of 300 or more as the anticipated peak continues to elude the state.

After having three of four days with the reported cases being less than 200, there have now been back to back days of more than 300.

There have been 491 total deaths reported (13 new), the vast majority of which appear to have been with older patients with underlying conditions.

Cumulatively thus far, Hinds County has the most cases with 745, followed Lauderdale County with 566, Madison County with 507, Scott County with 504, DeSoto with 355, Forrest County with 369, Jackson County with 283, Rankin County with 276 and Harrison County with 214.
