Former MDOT executive director Brown wins mayoral runoff

NATCHEZ — Larry L. Brown has won the Democratic primary for Natchez mayor, defeating Phillip West by 541 votes in the runoff. Brown, former executive director of the Mississippi Department of Transportation, received 56 percent of the vote, or 2,696 votes in yesterday’s runoff election. MDOT looking to cut costs by trimming 2,300-vehicle fleet

JACKSON — The Mississippi Department of Transportation is working to reduce its fleet of vehicles by 10 percent over the next five years, according to transportation commissioner Mike Tagert.
